The Orbit Bridge attacker sent $32 million in assets to a Tornado Cash mixer
An Arkham Intelligence analyst reported that the hacker who attacked the Orbit Bridge cross-chain bridge sent $32 million in stolen funds to a Tornado Cash mixer on June 8.
The incident happened on Dec. 31 last year and the total loss was more than $80 million. South Korean company Ozys, which directly developed the cross-chain bridge, accused its ex-employee of helping the attacker.
Arkham experts did the calculations and concluded that the protocol's losses totaled more than $100 million.
According to Arkham's experts, the losses amounted to more than $100 million.
Company officials said the hackers stole more than $100 million in DAI and ETH from Orbit Chain and have not been heard from since.
The perpetrator's wallet holds more than $20 million in DAI and USDT assets, as well as $66 million in ETH. In addition, the attacker has savings in ORC, wBTC, USDC, and wETH.
After the hacker attack, the Orbit team offered an $8 million reward for information about the perpetrator or the return of the funds. However, this did nothing to help in identifying the hacker.
According to DeFi Llama, the total value of funds that have been blocked online is $37 million. Previously, the figure was more than $150 million.
